Pearland Police advise calm
The Pearland Police Department is urging residents to be cautious but not panic in wake of the high-profile kidnapping of Susana De Jesus earlier this month.
The kidnapping — in which a masked man took De Jesus, 37, at gunpoint as she left work — has sparked many residents of this rapidly developing city to speculate if too much growth, too fast has led to too much crime.
Pearland Police Chief J.C. Doyle told a meeting of residents of Shadow Creek, a subdivision close to where the kidnapping occurred, that while media attention on crime in the area has increased, crime itself has actually gone down.
